A truly indigenous grape variety from the Rheingau is experiencing a renaissance. The red Riesling is a variation of the "white" Riesling made from red grapes. However, it is still vinified as a white wine, as the grape skins do not contain sufficient pigment for red wine production. Characteristically, it presents a more robust aroma and a lower sensory acidity compared to the "white" version. Baron Knyphausen was the third winery worldwide to commercially cultivate this grape variety again since 2006. The 2023 vintage seamlessly joins its predecessors: brilliant fruit, full-bodied, and rich in aroma. It pairs wonderfully with strong cheeses. "Lime and greengage in the bouquet. Noticeable bitterness on the palate provides grip and refreshment, combined with fine ripe stone fruit aromas." Gault Millau 2023 – three black grapes
