With grapes grown in harmony with nature, high in our vineyards transitioning to organic in Mendoza, within the wine regions of Gualtallary and El Peral in the Uco Valley, our Terrazas de los Andes Chardonnay is a delightful surprise with a hint of French elegance. With citrus and mineral notes, this Argentine Chardonnay proves to be complex and fresh.

Our Reserva Chardonnay comes from our own vineyards located in the Uco Valley within the renowned GIs of Gualtallary (Finca Caicayén at 1250 m, Finca El Espinillo at 1650 m) and El Peral (Finca Cepas del Plata at 1450 m), where the soils are sandy loam, permeable, with some calcareous plots present. The canopy management system is trellised and irrigated through drip irrigation.

The 2020 harvest was characterized by a hot and dry summer that disrupted ripening variables. This situation was compounded by two additional factors: on one hand, frost reduced production, and on the other, irrigation restrictions affected the vineyards. All these factors—heat, reduced yields, and lack of water—pushed the harvest forward by 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the location.

Although it was a hot year, this harvest offers a unique framework for preserving acidity, producing good colors, and fresh aromas. The white wines exhibited excellent varietal typicity. Particularly, those from the Uco Valley showcase exceptional quality, marked by intense aromatic expression and great mouthfeel. In the case of Chardonnay, we find very good natural acidity and remarkable freshness.

Each terroir is interpreted to achieve the optimal balance for the vine, aiming to achieve the best expression of the varietal in that location. A precise monitoring of the grape ripeness is conducted to harvest them at the perfect moment for fruit expression, freshness, and acidity. Sourced from the renowned IGs Gualtallary and El Peral, these grapes embody all the freshness that the altitude of the Uco Valley offers. Harvested at different times, primarily associated with the various heights of the estates, the grapes are picked at the beginning of the season.

Once the must is obtained, it is clarified and fermentation begins. Knowing the style and potential of each location, it is decided whether it will ferment in oak barrels or stainless steel tanks. The malolactic fermentation is performed partially to preserve freshness and crispness. After 9 months of aging, the wine is stabilized and bottled.

With a yellow color and greenish highlights, it has an attractive and expressive nose. It reveals aromas of white fruits such as pear, citrus fruits with notes of candied orange, as well as tropical fruits like papaya and banana. Completing the bouquet are subtle notes of brioche and toasted chestnuts. On the palate, it shows a fresh and pleasant entry. It is voluminous, fluid, and very well-balanced.

Ideal for pairing with grilled white fish, pasta with cream or butter, white meats, or citrus dishes.
